Precote 80
High strength microencapsulated pre-applied thread locker and sealant, rated to 340°F and 5760 psi. Starts to lock in 10 minutes. Full cure in 8 hours. Solvent-free, dry to the touch, applicable to internal or external threads. Activated by thread engagement. Pink color for visual identification.
Standard lead time 1–2 weeks — from receipt at our dock to coated parts back on yours. Rush accommodated on request. Customer pays inbound and outbound freight; F.O.B. St. Charles, IL.

High strength microencapsulated thread locker — 10-minute initial lock, 340°F, 5760 psi.
Precote 80 is the primary high-strength grade in the Precote microencapsulated thread locker line. High strength, 340°F rated, sealing up to 5760 psi, and with a fast-cure profile that begins within 10 minutes of assembly. Applicable to internal and external threads across a broad range of fastener sizes.
The 10-minute initial lock time is meaningful for production scheduling. Where Precote 30 requires a full 8-hour wait before the assembly can be considered locked, Precote 80 begins providing resistance to rotation within 10 minutes of assembly. Full cure completes at 8 hours at room temperature. The Precote 80 TDS documents performance that meets DIN 267-27 after 6 hours at room temperature — confirming the fast-cure characteristic in a standardized test context.
5760 psi is the maximum sealing pressure — the same as Precote 85 and significantly higher than Precote 30 (3600 psi). Both Precote 80 and 85 are high strength grades with the same temperature ceiling. The distinction between them lies in the torque profile: Precote 80 is the standard high-strength grade, while Precote 85 is the grade for applications requiring controlled prevailing torque tension. The colors (pink for 80, turquoise for 85) provide visual identification at the assembly station.
Precote 80 is not reusable. The cured acrylate forms a structural element of the threaded joint. Disassembly requires overcoming the high-strength cured lock — typically requiring appropriate tooling and potentially heat. For applications requiring disassembly and reinstallation without reapplication, see the non-reactive Precote 5 or 15 grades.
