It doesn’t certify any specific coating — it certifies that the system producing the coating is documented, controlled, independently audited, and continuously improved. Here’s what each requirement means in practice for a fastener coating order.

Documented processes	Every coating application method — flow coating, roll coating, spray — is written down, version-controlled, and followed. Not approximate. Not tribal knowledge.
Controlled inputs	Chemistry lots, substrate conditions, application parameters, and cure conditions are recorded per batch. If a variable changes, it’s flagged — not assumed.
Independent audit	Perry Johnson Registrars conducts scheduled and unannounced surveillance audits. The certificate is not self-issued. An external registrar validates every cycle.
Corrective action system	When something goes wrong, there’s a formal process to identify root cause, implement a fix, and verify effectiveness. Not a verbal conversation — a documented CAR.
Continual improvement requirement	ISO 9001:2015 requires ongoing measurement of quality objectives and documented improvement plans. The standard doesn’t allow standing still.
Traceability, end to end	Lot tracking from inbound receipt through outbound shipment. If a question arises about a specific shipment — six months or six years later — we can pull the record.
