Why companies use pre-applied threadlockers.
Liquid thread-lockers applied at the assembly bench introduce variables: operator technique, dosage, waste, inconsistent applications. Pre-applied chemistry — cured onto the fastener in advance — removes those variables before the bolt reaches the line.
Faster assembly
No bottle. No brush. No timing. The operator picks up the bolt, threads it in, and torques it down. Cycle time drops; production increases.

Every fastener receives the same dose, applied in a controlled environment with full lot traceability. No more “the second-shift guys put too much on.” Consistent application every time.

Consistent application is the quiet but decisive advantage of pre-applied. It’s the reason engineers can write a single torque value on the print — and trust that the joint will hit it.
Predictable torque
When dose is constant, friction is constant. When friction is constant, the bolt clamp-load matches the torque value the engineer specified.
Reduced warranty risk
Bolts that loosen in service are one of the most expensive warranty failures because they’re hard to recreate in the lab. Consistent application removes the variable.
Audit-friendly
Lot traceability and material cert documentation come from Bradley with the parts. The QA paperwork that’s usually a scramble at audit time is already on file.
Better OEE
Pre-applied removes a station-level operation from the line. Less cleanup, less variation, less rework — all of which roll up into higher Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), the metric most manufacturing engineers use to measure line efficiency.
Reusability where it matters
Some chemistries (Bradley Nylon Patch, Loctite Dri-Loc 200/204) retain locking force after disassembly. Service-friendly without sacrificing security.

How pre-applied threadlockers actually work.
Most threadlockers are anaerobic — they cure in the absence of oxygen and in the presence of metal ions. Pre-applied versions package that chemistry into microcapsules bound to the fastener thread, ready to activate during assembly.
The five-second story
A pre-applied threadlocker is a dry-to-the-touch coating on the bolt thread. Microscopically, it contains tiny capsules of unreacted resin and a separate activator. When the mating thread shears the coating during assembly, the capsules rupture, resin and activator mix, and the mixture cures anaerobically into a strong polymer that fills the thread gap.
Because the chemistry only activates when threads engage and air is excluded, a coated bolt can sit in inventory for months without curing. Once installed, the joint develops full strength within 24 hours at room temperature.
The result is a thread joint with continuous polymer fill rather than the metal-on-metal contact that vibration normally exploits. That’s why pre-applied locking is dramatically more vibration-resistant than relying on torque alone.

Bare fastener threadCleaned, degreased, ready to coat. Bradley does not coat oily or contaminated parts — we reject or pre-clean first.

Carrier film depositedA thin polymer film is applied to the active threads. The film holds the microcapsules in place and protects them from premature shear.

Anaerobic cureIn the absence of oxygen and the presence of the steel substrate, the resin cures into a tough thermoset polymer within ~24 hours.
