Precote 30
Medium strength microencapsulated pre-applied thread locker and sealant. Dry to the touch, acrylate-base, activated by thread engagement. Starts to lock at 8 hours, seals up to 3600 psi. Rated from -58°F to 302°F. Internal or external threads. Not reusable.
Standard lead time 1–2 weeks — from receipt at our dock to coated parts back on yours. Rush accommodated on request. Customer pays inbound and outbound freight; F.O.B. St. Charles, IL.

Microencapsulated medium strength thread locker — activated by thread engagement.
Precote 30 is the medium strength member of the Precote microencapsulated thread locker family. Where Precote 5 and 15 are non-reactive sealants that require no chemical activation, Precote 30 uses a microencapsulated acrylate system — the capsules are broken by thread engagement, the adhesive mixes, and the cure begins. This produces a stronger, more permanent lock-and-seal than the non-reactive grades.
The coating is dry to the touch on the fastener and inert in storage. Thread engagement at assembly breaks the microcapsules, releases the acrylate adhesive, and initiates room-temperature cure. The cured film locks the fastener against vibration loosening and seals the thread against fluid and gas migration up to 3600 psi. 8-hour full cure time at room temperature. The 4-year shelf life at room temperature applies to the dry pre-applied coating.
Precote 30 is not reusable. The microencapsulated acrylate cures into a structural element of the threaded joint. Disassembly requires overcoming the cured lock, and reinstallation requires reapplication — unlike the non-reactive Precote 5 and 15 which can be reassembled without reapplication. Specify Precote 30 for joints that will not require periodic disassembly.
Within the Precote locker family, medium strength (Precote 30) is the grade for applications requiring controlled lock-and-seal without the high breakaway torque of Precote 80 or 85. For high-strength locking and higher temperature capability (338°F vs 302°F), see Precote 80 (pink, fast-cure) or Precote 85 (turquoise, controlled torque tension).

PRODUCT
Precote 30YELLOW
Medium strength microencapsulated acrylate thread locker and sealant. Yellow color. Not reusable. First step up from the non-reactive Precote 5/15 sealants.
CHEMISTRY
Microencapsulated AcrylateSOLVENT-FREE
Dry, varnish-like, solvent-free microencapsulated acrylate coating. Capsules remain intact in storage. Thread engagement shear breaks the capsules and initiates room-temperature cure.
STRENGTH
MediumLOCK + SEAL
Medium strength — suitable for applications where the joint may need to be serviced with standard tooling, unlike high-strength grades which may require heat or impact to disassemble.
TEMPERATURE RANGE
-58°F to 302°FFULL RANGE
Full operating range: -58°F to 302°F. Note: Precote 80 and 85 offer 338°F for higher-temperature applications.
CURE TIME
8 HoursROOM TEMPERATURE
Full cure in 8 hours at room temperature. Joint can typically be handled before full cure — confirm handling time against the current TDS.
PRESSURE RATING
3600 psiMAX SEALING
Maximum sealing pressure of 3600 psi — higher than the non-reactive Precote 5 (216 psi) but lower than the high-strength Precote 80/85 (5760 psi).
REUSABILITY
NoSINGLE INSTALL
Microencapsulated acrylate cures on engagement. Not reusable. Reapplication required after disassembly.
SHELF LIFE
4 YearsROOM TEMPERATURE
4-year shelf life at room temperature — consistent across the Precote line.
