Precote 15 is the highest-temperature non-reactive sealant in the Precote line — 390°F rated, elastic, with good adherence. It seals immediately on assembly without requiring chemical activation or cure time. What distinguishes it from Precote 5 is its broader application range: Precote 15 is specified not only for cylindrical and conical threads but also for under-head sealing on flange screws and as a sealing material for rivets.

The coating is dry to the touch on the fastener and seals immediately when the part is assembled. The elastic character of the film allows it to accommodate minor surface variations and maintain the seal under thermal cycling and vibration. Because the chemistry is non-reactive, the coating does not cure — it remains flexible and the joint can be disassembled and reassembled with the sealing function intact.

The broad application scope — electronics, automotive, appliances, computers, motors — reflects the versatility of the non-reactive elastic sealant mechanism. Screws, studs, plugs, and pipe threads are the primary thread applications. The under-head capability extends Precote 15 into sealing roles that thread-only sealants cannot address: flange head screws and bolts with collars where the contact area under the head, not just the thread, needs to be sealed.

Precote 15 and Precote 5 are both non-reactive pure sealants. The decision between them comes down to temperature ceiling, pressure requirement, and application scope. Precote 5 seals to 216 psi at 356°F for standard thread applications. Precote 15 offers a higher temperature ceiling (390°F), elastic character for under-head sealing, and the confirmed rivet sealing capability.
