Plastisol White
PVC plastisol pre-applied under the fastener head — heat-cured in production and ready to install. On tightening, the pad compresses against the mating surface like a gasket, eliminating under-head leaks and sealing out moisture, dust, and gases. Also cushions the joint, insulates dissimilar metals, and resists vibration. Reusable — the pad recovers when the fastener is removed.

PVC plastisol under the head — seals like a gasket, cushions like a washer.
Lakeside Plastics Plastisol White is a PVC plastisol pre-applied to the underside of the fastener head in production. It addresses a different failure mode from thread sealants — not leakage through the threaded joint, but leakage around the fastener head, at the contact surface between the bolt or screw head and the part being fastened.
The plastisol is applied as a liquid during the fastener finishing process and heat-cured in place, forming a solid, resilient, flexible PVC pad under the head. On installation, tightening the fastener compresses the pad against the mating surface. The material conforms to surface texture and minor imperfections, closing off the leak path under the head without requiring a separate gasket, washer, or sealing compound at the assembly station. The fastener arrives at the line with the sealing function already built in.
The compressed pad acts in four ways simultaneously: it seals against moisture, dust, and gas migration under the head; it cushions the joint and absorbs vibration energy; it reduces noise transmission through the fastener; and it electrically isolates dissimilar metals in contact. On removal, the pad recovers. The fastener can be reinstalled and the pad will compress again, maintaining the sealing function across repeated assembly and disassembly cycles as long as the material is not damaged.
The pre-cured plastisol is dry and non-tacky in storage and on the shelf. Fasteners feed normally through automated assembly equipment including vibratory bowl feeders — no transfer to adjacent fasteners, no feeder clogging. The white color provides a clear visual batch inspection cue. Both the Black and White grades are mechanically identical; the color distinction makes grade identification straightforward in mixed-SKU production environments where both are in use.
SPEC AT A GLANCE
Why engineers reach for Plastisol White
PVC plastisol pre-applied under the fastener head. Compresses against the mating surface like a gasket — eliminating under-head leaks, cushioning the joint, reducing noise, and resisting vibration without adding a separate sealing operation.

PRODUCT
Lakeside Plastics PlastisolWHITE
PVC plastisol from Lakeside Plastics, pre-applied under the fastener head and heat-cured in production. Acts as a gasket against the mating surface on installation — eliminating under-head leaks and cushioning the joint. Both Black and White grades share the same TDS.
MATERIAL
PVC PlastisolHEAT-CURED
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin dispersed in plasticizer. Applied as a liquid during the fastener finishing process and heat-cured in place. The result is a solid, resilient, flexible pad under the fastener head — ready to compress on installation.
FUNCTION
Under-Head SealGASKET ACTION
Applied to the underside of the fastener head, not the thread. On installation, tightening compresses the plastisol against the mating surface like a gasket, closing off the leak path under the head. Different from thread sealants, which seal the thread engagement itself.
SEALING ACTION
CompressionGASKET-STYLE
The plastisol does not chemically adhere to the metal surface. It works by compression — the pad is squeezed between the fastener head and the mating surface when the fastener is tightened, conforming to surface imperfections and creating a positive seal.
VIBRATION RESISTANCE
YesCUSHIONS AND DAMPENS
The resilient PVC material absorbs vibration energy, reduces noise transmission, and maintains the seal under cyclic loading. Vibration resistance comes from the material elasticity of the compressed pad.
REUSABLE
YesCOMPRESS-AND-RECOVER
The pad compresses on installation and recovers elastically when the fastener is removed. The fastener can be reinstalled with the sealing function intact, as long as the pad is not damaged or permanently deformed.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
YesWEATHER AND ENVIRONMENT
Provides resistance to weathering, UV, ozone, and electrical isolation between dissimilar metals. Not recommended for direct, sustained contact with fuels or oils — confirm compatibility with engineering for hydrocarbon-exposed applications.
SHELF LIFE
ExtendedDRY ROOM-TEMP STORAGE
Heat-cured plastisol is stable in storage. Does not activate or degrade at room temperature. Annual re-certification may be recommended for quality assurance programs.
AUTO FEED COMPAT.
YesVIBRATORY BOWL FEEDERS
Pre-cured plastisol is dry and non-tacky. Fasteners feed normally through automated assembly equipment including vibratory bowl feeders — no transfer, no clogging, no contamination of adjacent fasteners.
VISUAL ID
WhiteCOLOR-INSPECTABLE
White color allows visual batch inspection. Both grades are mechanically identical — color is the differentiator.
