Vibra-Seal 503 White.
NSF-approved, low-viscosity pre-applied thread sealant with constant-on torque and vibration resistance. Dries to a resilient, tight-clinging film that seals against fuels, hydraulic fluids, and potable water. Reusable — readjustable without stripping the seal. The white Vibra-Seal grade for plumbing, food-equipment, and NSF-listed assemblies. 300°F rated.

NSF-approved pre-applied sealant — low viscosity, constant torque, reusable.
Vibra-Seal 503 is the NSF-approved, low-viscosity member of the Loctite Vibra-Seal family — the grade for plumbing assemblies, potable water fittings, food-equipment hardware, and any threaded joint where an NSF-listed thread sealant is a procurement or specification requirement.
The 503 formulation is a water-based sealant that dries to a resilient, tight-clinging, non-curing film on the thread surface. Low viscosity means the film flows into tightly-fitting threads — standard pipe fittings, adjustment screws, gauge connections, and similar applications where the thread tolerances are normal and there is no significant gap to fill. For assemblies with looser fits or larger annular gaps, the 503HV (high viscosity) variant delivers the same NSF and constant-torque performance in a thicker, gap-filling formulation.
“Constant-on torque” and non-curing chemistry are the two operational advantages over liquid pipe sealants and Teflon tape. The joint installs at consistent, predictable torque, resists vibration loosening in service, and can be taken apart and reassembled without stripping the sealant or reaching for tape. The white finish is neutral — it does not discolor fittings or leave visible residue, which matters in plumbing and food-equipment environments where appearance and hygiene standards apply.
NSF approval is the qualifier that separates 503 White from the orange Vibra-Seal grades (516, 517) in application-specific selection. The orange grades are engineered for GM-NA automotive programs; the white grades serve the plumbing, HVAC, fire-suppression, and food-processing industries where NSF listing is either required by specification or expected by the supply chain. On any print that calls for an NSF-listed pre-applied thread sealant, 503 White is the answer.

PRODUCT FAMILY
Loctite Vibra-Seal 503WHITE
Low-viscosity member of the Vibra-Seal pre-applied thread sealant family. White color, NSF approved. See Vibra-Seal 503HV for the high-viscosity white variant. 516/517 are the orange GM-NA automotive grades.
CHEMISTRY
Water-BasedNON-CURING SEALANT
Water-based sealant that dries to a resilient, tight-clinging, non-curing film. Does not cure anaerobically — remains flexible and readjustable. Resistant to most fluids.
FUNCTION
Thread SealPRIMARY
Primary function is sealing against fluid and gas migration through threaded joints. Secondary function is vibration-resistant locking. Works on both tapered and straight threads.
VISCOSITY
LowTIGHT THREADS
Low-viscosity formulation for standard thread fits. The thinner film flows into tight threads and normal fits. For looser threads or larger leak paths, use Vibra-Seal 503HV (high viscosity).
NSF APPROVAL
ApprovedPOTABLE WATER
NSF approved — the key differentiator from the orange 516/517 grades. Required for plumbing, potable water fittings, shower hardware, fire suppression systems, and food-equipment fasteners where an NSF-listed sealant is specified.
TEMPERATURE RANGE
Up to 300°FCONTINUOUS
Continuous-service ceiling to 300°F. Resistant to thermal cycling through full service range.
ON-TORQUE
ConstantVIBRATION-RESISTANT
“Constant-on torque” — consistent installation torque maintained under vibration and thermal cycling. The joint does not loosen or seize in service.
SUBSTRATE
All Coating Types+ MOST PLASTICS
Works on all coating types and most plastic substrates. Broad compatibility makes 503 appropriate for mixed-material assemblies common in plumbing and HVAC programs.
REUSABILITY
YesREADJUSTABLE
Non-curing film allows disassembly and reassembly. Joint can be readjusted in the field without stripping the seal. Film does not need to be removed before reinstall.
VISUAL ID
WhiteCOLOR-INSPECTABLE
White distinguishes 503 from orange Vibra-Seal grades (516/517) and from standard anaerobic lockers. In food-equipment and plumbing programs white is the expected sealant color — 503 meets both the visual expectation and the NSF requirement.
