EverSeal 183 Blue.
UL-listed pre-applied thread sealant for propane and natural gas fittings — also NSF approved for potable water. Water-based, low VOC, 300°F rated. The blue color is the conventional gas-service visual signal. A single-install product: the seal is set on installation and is not designed to be stripped and replaced in the field.

UL listed for gas. NSF approved for water. One pre-applied blue sealant for both.
EverSeal 183 Blue is the dual-certified member of the Federal Process EverSeal family — the only pre-applied thread sealant in the Bradley catalog carrying both a UL listing for propane and natural gas service and NSF approval for potable water. Where most thread sealants are certified for one application domain, 183 Blue covers both.
The 183 formulation is a water-based, low-VOC sealant — a critical requirement for gas-service applications where combustible solvents are unacceptable by code or by safety protocol. The film is applied to the fastener or fitting thread at the factory; it is dry to touch on the shelf, does not migrate, and is ready to install without preparation. On assembly, thread engagement seats the film and seals the connection against gas and fluid migration.
The UL listing for propane and natural gas is a safety-critical certification. In most jurisdictions, gas-system pipe fittings must be sealed with a UL-listed compound — a requirement that eliminates most general-purpose thread sealants from the specification. EverSeal 183 Blue meets this requirement in a pre-applied format, removing the jobsite step of applying a liquid sealant or tape and eliminating the variability that comes with manual application. The product seals the joint at installation. It is not designed to be removed and reapplied — the seal is set once, and the fitting stays sealed.
NSF approval for potable water extends the 183 Blue’s reach beyond pure gas service — it can be specified on gas-adjacent potable water connections and multi-service piping assemblies without requiring a separate product. The blue color is the conventional visual signal for gas-service pipe fittings and sealants in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contexts: a technician can confirm gas-service sealant at a glance. For fire sprinkler and water spray system applications requiring a reusable sealant, see the EverSeal 483 White.

PRODUCT
Federal Process EverSeal 183BLUE
UL-listed and NSF-approved pre-applied thread sealant from Federal Process Corporation. The only product in the Bradley catalog carrying both certifications — gas service (UL) and potable water (NSF) — in one blue sealant.
CHEMISTRY
Water-BasedLOW VOC
Water-based formulation with low VOC content. Film is non-flammable and safe for use in gas-service environments where combustible solvents would be unacceptable.
UL LISTING
UL ListedPROPANE + NATURAL GAS
UL listed for use on propane and natural gas pipe fittings — a safety-critical certification required by code on gas systems in most jurisdictions. The UL listing confirms the product seals gas service threads without degrading, cracking, or contributing to leak paths under service conditions.
NSF APPROVAL
NSF ApprovedPOTABLE WATER
NSF approved for potable water use — in addition to the gas service UL listing. Dual certification enables 183 Blue to be specified for gas-adjacent potable water connections and multi-service piping assemblies without changing sealants.
FUNCTION
Thread SealGAS & WATER
Pure thread sealant — sealing is the sole function. Does not provide vibration-resistant locking. Seals tapered and straight threads against gas and fluid migration.
TEMPERATURE RANGE
Up to 300°FCONTINUOUS
Continuous-service ceiling to 300°F. Suitable for service in proximity to heat sources typical of gas appliances, water heaters, and HVAC systems.
VIBRATION RESISTANCE
NoPURE SEALANT
Not rated for vibration resistance. For vibration-resistant thread sealing, specify a Vibra-Seal grade.
REUSABILITY
NoSINGLE-INSTALL
Film is consumed at install — not reusable. For assemblies requiring reassembly (e.g., sprinkler systems requiring service access), see EverSeal 483 White (reusable).
COLOR
BlueGAS-SERVICE SIGNAL
Blue is the conventional color signal for gas-service pipe fittings and sealants in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical installation contexts. Provides QA visual confirmation of correct product on gas-service connections.
